A Memorable Visit to E.C.S. Omdurman: Sharing Knowledge in Sudan

In September 2022, Tobian Language School had the privilege of visiting E.C.S. School Omdurman in Khartoum, Sudan.

Led by our founder, Tobias Woudt, this extraordinary opportunity allowed us to share our knowledge, expertise, and experiences in teaching and learning the English language with an inspiring group of students and educators.

Empowering Education in Challenging Times

Sudan is a country facing significant economic and political challenges. Yet, amidst these difficulties, we encountered students with a deep desire to learn English as a way to build brighter futures.

For many of these students, learning English is not just a skill—it’s a lifeline. It represents a chance to open doors to global opportunities, career growth, and a better quality of life.

We were particularly moved by Ahmed’s story, a student who reminded us that learning a new language is more than a pastime—it can be the key to living a better life.

Our Commitment to Supporting E.C.S. Omdurman

As part of our mission to broaden the world of our students through education, Tobian Language School is committed to supporting E.C.S. Omdurman.

We aim to provide the necessary tools and resources for the development of their language school and courses.

This partnership is a reflection of our belief that education can transcend borders, bridge cultural divides, and create a more equitable world.

A Lesson in Learning and Teaching

During our visit, we had the opportunity to lead a lesson and engage in an open discussion with the students and teachers of E.C.S. Omdurman. Together, we explored what it means to learn and teach English in a globalized world. Some key takeaways from our discussion include:

• Learning English is a journey: It’s a long and sometimes challenging experience, but one worth pursuing.

• Accents don’t matter: The most important thing is to speak without fear and ensure that others can understand you.

• Adapting to your speaking partner: Adjusting your English level to match your conversation partner can improve communication and connection.

• Our shared humanity: Despite our different backgrounds, religions, cultures, and countries, we all strive to improve our English skills to enhance our prospects and connect with others.

Gratitude for an Unforgettable Experience

🌎 This unique gathering in Sudan was more than a teaching moment—it was a learning experience for us at Tobian Language School. The passion and determination of the students at E.C.S. Omdurman left a lasting impression on us and reaffirmed our mission to make education a force for positive change across the globe.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the students and educators of E.C.S. Omdurman for welcoming us into their world. We wish them the best of luck with their studies and are excited to continue supporting their journey toward fluency in English.

Moments like these remind us of why we exist: to support and empower students around the world. Education has the power to change lives, and we are proud to be part of this incredible journey.
